I Molecular and Formula Mass

- The atomic mass scale is used to compare the masses of atoms. This scale

has the atomic mass unit (u) as a standard

- The molecular mass of a molecule can be determined by adding the atomic

masses of all the atoms in one molecule

- The formula mass of a compound can be calculated by adding the atomic

masses of the atoms in a formula unit
